Cigar Ribbon Quilt

Rare American Cigar quilt Circa 1885. People throughout the 19th century were encouraged by literature and cigar companies to use these novelty ribbons, used to bind bundles of cigars, to create pieces for their homes such as pillows, purses and even curtains.
The orange and yellow silk ribbons have delicately been hand sewn together using a fancy feather stitch alongside the edges.

The quilt is framed in cherry wood frame with light blue passepartout and museum glass.
